You asked for it...

Some of you have asked for an update when we are on our ride over Labor Day Weekend. Well, I figured I would let you in on some of our activities and observations leading up to our ride. We are approximately 36 Days away from departure, so it is becoming more of a reality of late.

Last week was not conducive to getting any training rides in. We were able to get to the gym and get a couple spin classes in, but it sure isn't the same. This past weekend we got in a couple good rides before it got too sweltering hot. Saturday was a 56 Mile section of what they ride during Colorburst, and then a 38 Miler up to Sand Lake and back.

Now the observations and activities from this past weekend...We stopped in the "Grattan Business District" according to the signs. Shirley waited with the bikes while Kelly and I went inside the store. Upon our return she told us we had to look at the lady in the pink shorts when she came back out. Well; those pink shorts were working awfully hard to contain everything that was inside them, including the smiley face underwear you could clearly see through her shorts. Just like a shot from the "People of Walmart" website.

At the end of one of our training routes we come down the hills on 7 Mile Road right behind Boulder Creek Golf Course. On a normal day you will hit 30-35 MPH coming down those hills; Saturday was no exception. I happened to be first down the hill Saturday and had a deer step out at the bottom of the hill when I was halfway down. Doing what I do best I yelled "DDEEEEEEEEEERRRRRR" all the way down to warn my riding partners behind me as well as hopefully scare the deer back into the woods before I got to it. Disaster averted. That is one battle I think I would lose...Woman on bike vs. Deer.
